Learn Sign Language

More Sign
Language Books
To master and learn sign language is a wonderful art, whether it is to gain a new skill, to communicate with your baby through baby sign language or that you know someone who has impaired hearing.

There are many places where you can learn signing but they are far fewer than most mainstream languages.

However, with research showing that signing to your baby and toddler can benefits you and your child, it is now being recognise as the leading way to help your baby’s development, speech therapist and child care professionals are now starting to include baby sign language in their sessions.

The internet has helped enormously with ways of practising sign language made easier through video tutorials. We are now able to find more information to gain knowledge on this subject at a touch of a button.

However, there is no substitute for having a teacher, as with any other language the teacher can help correct your signing, demonstrate how the sign should be done, and also explain the grammar and structures of the sign language.

What is important is to find a good teacher and make sure you practice often, as with many things, the more you put in, the more you will get out of it.

My First Signs (Board book)

This large-format board book offers a practical, enjoyable resource for teaching both hearing and deaf children the hand signs for common words.

Each page shows four or five toddlers illustrating signs for well-chosen words or concepts--for example, "eat," "more," "out /outside," "sorry," and "good." In many of the pictures, the child has a simple prop, such as a toy car or a bathtub, that helps clarify the idea.

Baby Signs (Board book)

With this adorable board book of essential signs, babies and toddlers can easily learn how to communicate their needs, wants, and feelings—and even make basic observations—with a simple gesture.

Just point to a sign in the book, say the word while making the sign, and the baby will soon be signing. Communicating a wet diaper or a hungry belly, asking for help or saying “all done” becomes as easy as waving hello or good-bye.

Baby Sign Language Flash Cards

On the front of each card, clear, brightly colored photographs hold your baby’s attention and motivate him or her to sign. On the back of each card, easy-to-understand photos and descriptions show you how the sign is done.

What’s most important is to have fun! The more joyful your attitude during any activity, the more your baby will find delight in it and want to do it!

See It and Sign It Game

An easy-to-follow game to learn sign language the fun way. It's six games in one, plus a DVD with live action demonstrations.

Our five young and friendly ASL "pros" take the guesswork out of signing, as every sign is shown clearly and accurately. In level 1, you'll learn 60 words, 10 words in six different categories, the alphabet and numbers 1-10. Levels of play let kids learn at their own level. For 2 or more players.

Sign With Your Baby Kit

Parents looking for a new way to communicate and bond with their older infant or toddler now have one-this video, book and chart that teach elementary signing.

Eye contact, interaction and language development all get a boost from the kit, which is aimed at ages 7 months to 3 years. Plus, with a few of the simple signs in hand, the little ones can actually help mom and dad figure out what they need.

Sign Babies Flash Cards

The eye-catching illustrations help young children to recognize common objects, actions, and emotions. Parents and educators can use the cards to facilitate learning signs that children can use to communicate before they can speak.

The flash cards can be presented individually to facilitate learning signs or in a 4 x 6 photo album to create a custom "book" that focuses on the words and concepts children are learning. The ASL sign and hint on the back side help adults remember the signs.
