Things like Tea Time, Bed Time and School Time. Also, try giving your child something to look forward to that can have a time measure put to it. For instance a favourite television program starting in half an hour, or a friend arriving in 10 minutes. When your child is beginning to appreciate the time throughout the day, the numbers on his watch face will make a little more sense.
The short hand of these watches point to the inner dials, which displays the hours and the minute hand points to the specially designed two coloured outer dial. The yellow half of the dial displays to time in minutes ‘PAST’ the hour, whilst the green half of the dial displays the number of minutes ‘TO’ the hour. Start by explaining how the watch measures time. To begin with explain what the second hand does, watch and count to 60 with your child as it makes one trip around the face. Talk about tasks that take seconds to do. Time yourself and your child doing these activities. These might include brushing your teeth, or putting your shoes on. Follow this lesson with an explanation of the minute hand, explain that every time the second hand makes one full trip around the face, the minute hand moves forward one small number. Time yourselves again doing activities that take minutes to perform. And then start to expand by counting minutes in fives, tens, fifteens, and thirties. Next the hour hand, follow the same steps in your explanation and time thing in hours, like going on a trip or watching their favourite movie, move this forward until your child has an appreciation of 12 hours. Finally, teach your child that the hour hand travels around the face twice each day;
The second time it goes round measures the afternoon. Show them when the day begins and by lunchtime, half the day is over. Also look at our page for other Schoolies Fun Learning Games And, if your looking for a great selection of Toys and Games be sure to visit the Education Games For Kids Shop
