![]() It helps them to understand the relationship between each letter and its the sounds they make, and is an excellent foundation for kids reading and spelling skills. Usually a Nursery Settings would start the basics of a Preschool Reading Program, which would involve your child learning the sound and shape of each letter, before learning the letter’s name.
Children weren’t pressured into learning. They enjoyed the stories of each letter, and loved singing along with the CD. (which once the song gets into your head you can’t help but sing it. This is not good when you are walking around a shop without a child!) Once the children started to become familiar with the Letter Land characters, they started to notice that almost everything in the picture, started with that characters letter. This is a great way of making your child think about the sound of each letter, and what other words, have similar sounds. When learning to read at the schoolies age, around 5 to 7 years old, children can easily become frustrated, which can lead to a future hostility towards reading that can last for years.
![]() This is why I feel that the Letter Land groups of books and software, are the best way to help your child to start read. These books start from the age of 0-3 years old. Here’s what one grandmother had to say about Letter Land “Brill - my granddaughter not two but can tell you lots of the letters already. She loves Sammy Snake.” If a learning activity is fun and interesting, and children are captivated by what they see, they will absorb so much more. This is what Letter Land does very well.
