Preschool numbers and their value can be made into fun numbers activities for your child.
Whether it is a number learning game, or products to help build on their number skills, it’s all here.
Before your child learns to count they need to understand that one equals one item, two equals two items and so on.
Use very small numbers to start with and as your child gets their understanding of association number and quantity, start adding another number one at a time.
This is a difficult skill for your preschooler to learn, so have patients. Encouraging your child will go along way.
You can help your child by doing a small daily activity. Laying the table is a good idea, for example, how many folks, knives and plates will we need?
As this is something we do every day, it is good practice for your child.
You could even do this in a play situation, do a teddy bear picnic, and let your child share out the sweets or cakes to each of their teddy bears.
Looking through number books, and counting together is good practise, as well as playing some fun preschool number games.
Number 1-10 has numbers and animals to help children begin acquiring counting skills. The 10 pieces of the toy include illustrations of an Elephant, Bears, Alligators, Foxes, Rabbits, Chicks, Frogs, Mice, Bees, and Ladybirds to help children count animals from 1 to 10.
The Numbers are the perfect size for children to put on each animal card as they learn about each number from 1 to 10.
Your child will want to play this game over and over again. Not only does it help build your child’s memory skills, it helps recognize numbers, counting skills and value of numbers.
The cards are very thick and durable which is great for this age.
These were given to my 2 1/2 year old as a gift and I will admit that, at first, I thought it was a rather dull gift. My daughter LOVES it, though. She uses the cookies for counting (and sometimes counts the M&Ms on top). She also has fun playing with them in her kitchen. She cooks the cookies and feeds them to her stuffed animals. She counts how many cookies each doll gets. She spends a lot of time arranging the cookies (and other foods) in the cookie jar.

Hi Ho! Cherry-O is the counting game in which players race to be the first to have 10 cherries in their basket. A spin of the arrow determines your fate. It will instruct you to pick one, two, three, or four cherries from your tree and put 'em in your basket.
That is, of course, if you don't land on the bird or the dog, requiring you to take two cherries from your basket and return them to the tree. And try not to land on the spilled bucket to.
Number concepts, zero through nine, are illustrated in this 10-piece peg puzzle. A colorful picture under each piece shows the same number of items as the numeral on top of the piece, helping promote number recognition and counting skills!
Encourages eye-hand, fine motor and visual perception skills.
