Educational Games For Spelling

Other Products By Bananagrams
Spelling games are a fun way to help improve your child’s ability to learn and retain spelling words, in a fun and enjoyable way.

Playing educational games for spelling is a fun and easy way to let your child practice their spelling skills, and regular playing of these games, will improve your child’s ability to learn and retain how to spell words.

A good educational spelling game will also enable you to be able to measure their spelling ability.

Before buying a spelling game, it would be a good idea to measure your child’s ability, don’t just pick an age group that fits your child.

If they are finding spelling difficult, to give your child more confidence, go for an educational spelling game that is a little bit easier. Or if your child finds spelling easy, choose spelling games that offer a bit more of a challenge.

Snatch Word Game

Players take turns flipping over a tile until a word of 3 or more letters can be formed. It need not be your turn -- as soon as you spot a word, call it out, take the letters, and place the word face up in front of you. But beware -- the word you make may not be yours for long!

Words can be formed in two ways: by using 3 or more letters from the center OR by adding one or more letters to an existing word. Players may SNATCH any by changing it with the addition of one or more letters. So your CAT may become someone else's CART, which could then be snatched as TRACK seconds later. You must use all the letters of the word you are snatching. Continue until all 100 tiles have been flipped over and no more new words can be formed.

Word Sense

Word Sense is a fast-paced word race that keeps you on your toes. Develop your lexiconic sixth sense with rapid-fire word challenges that are fun for kids and adults alike.

Players take turns flipping letter tiles and racing to think up words that contain those letters. For example, flip S-P-O, and call out "stop," "poster," "preposterous," or "opposite." Be the first to correctly call out a word, and you get to keep the tiles. The player with the most points is the winner.

Coodju

"We recently had a family get together and played several boardgames, including Coodju. It was a HIT, with the little kids and the big kids. It was fast-paced with unique scoring, combining skill with a little bit of "luck of the die". It provided us with hours of fun, while stimulating our minds." Without pencil and paper, can you spell aloud "taut, lynch, fluff, tamper, paradox, and scorpion" in under a minute--vowels only? What about "octagon" and "laborious," skipping every other letter? And you'll soon learn that "g, u, e, z, a" spells "gauze" from the outside in. Fast and funky, Coodju is a party-time spelling bee with a honey of a sting--and, if there's any justice, a whole lot of buzz. More English Learning Games

Through The Clues Game

Through the clues is a great new word game with a twist! You can only believe half of what you see! Players guess words based on a series of two word clues…but only one of the words in each two word clue is meaningful, the other is a decoy.

Players' alternate turns writing a series of five distracting two word clues for all their opponents who are trying to find the common link between the clues and then guess the answer. Guessing begins as soon as the first two word clue is placed in the easel. Play continues until all five easel cards are placed in the easel. If the no one answers the word in the allotted time, the clue giver scores the points.
