Word games and English learning games will not only help with your child’s language skills, but also improves their memory as well.

An educational word game helps your child learn new words and definitions, it can also improve their memory, enhance their language skills and exercise their brain for long-term learning and retention.

The classic game of Scrabble continues to be one of the top choices for board game lovers, and can provide endless hours of enjoyment in the world of wordplay.

But being good at a game like Scrabble or a popular English game like Bananagram, takes time and practice.

No matter what your child’s word skills are when they play a game like Scrabble, they can quickly learn powerful word combinations and recognize patterns to multiply their word score, which will help them to enjoy the development and progression of their vocabulary knowledge.

But you better keep your brain active too!

Keeping your brain sharp is even more important as you get older, and without enough activity, our brains can slow down so that learning and taking in new information becomes difficult.

So playing word games with your child will not only benefit them, but also benefit you to.

Playing an educational word game, once or twice a week will increase your child’s word stimulation, and potentially boost both you and your child’s intellect.

Wordplay Board Game

If you love word games...get ready for WORDPLAY. It's fast-paced, challenging, and easy to learn - and everyone plays every round! The spinner determines the letters and category for each round.

The category might be "Food & Drink", and you may be looking for words that begin with a 'P' and contain an 'A' - 'Pizza' and 'Pasta' may come to mind, or maybe 'Pancakes' and 'Peaches'. What about "Places" that start with a 'B' and contain an 'N'? You may think of 'Boston' or 'Birmingham'. If you can't think of any "Places" with those letters, you can still score points - just fewer - by coming up with words outside the category, like 'Banjo', 'Bargain', etc. You get the picture.

Word Thief

Stealing the words right out of an opponent's mouth--or, in this case, hand--has never been so accepted as in this vocabulary-building board game. Designed for two to four players, Wordthief involves a deck of letter cards, each of which is assigned a point value based on its frequency of occurrence in English words.

The obvious way to create words is to use the seven cards dealt to you. The more interesting way to accumulate points requires that you "steal" an opponent's word and build a new word with more letters from your hand. The player who makes the most words of the greatest point value wins the round.
